About Us

Since I was a teenager, I've dreamed of a free and simple life, a life I could settle into and eventually learn to let go of "the struggle."

My family and I live in a modest home at the foothills of the Appalachian mountains in the southern US. Our lives are mostly average, but also genuinely unique. We drink frosted coffee, don't watch TV, grow blueberries, and watch for the moon.

In this plain home, I make art and do other handwork, mostly  things not too deep or complex--herbs, soap, bookmarks, journals and notebooks, mini posters, weaving and knitting.  I aim to make them engaging and unique.  I use collage, colored pencil, watercolor, and pen and ink.  I love to work by season and avoid agendas when I can.

Which brings me to why I do what I do.  It's my passion to create clear, uncomplicated pieces of art and handcrafted items that I can share with others who are also looking for a simple life, and a slower ride.  Those of us who long to stop the merry-go-round need to encourage one another.

I believe there are many of us.

Little Hen Studio comes solely of this passion.

Given all this, you can expect to find a variety of things on this site.  It is designed to let you hop around easily and go back and forth again and again. The only requirement is that it clear our minds and leave a genuine smile.

In the meantime, I promise to keep it real if you will.

                     Blessings to us all,

                     Sandie
